The stage
decoration was the best so far. Draped in white and
silver, looked beautiful and very elegant, ready to
receive the Queen of Hearts!
The
show started with the Vartan Dance Group. They
performed beautifully to traditional Persian music.
Their costumes were very elegant. Very nicely done.
Then
it was time for our Googoosh. She appeared in a
pastel blue shimmering gown, sporting her new short blond
haircut, and looked more beautiful than ever.
Actually, as she was walking around, bowing, acknowledging
the applause and the cheers, she looked just like a doll!
Just so pretty!
She
sang 3 songs, then spoke of Mehrdad’s friendship and
asked him to perform with her. After their duet, she left
the stage to change. Mehrdad continued to perform a
few songs from his own albums and cheerfully interacted
with the audience who were quite pleased.
Googoosh
had five dress changes, each gown uniquely designed and
very beautiful. Of course, who else can show the
appeal of a gown, or a dress, or even jeans, but
Googoosh!
No
one wanted her to leave the stage for any reason!
Each time that she walked away to change you could hear
the sight of “Oh no. Don’t go”!
In
between each dress change, the stage belonged to Mehrdad,
Kambiz and the dancers. Mehrdad was accompanied by
the dancers when performing some of his songs. Very
nice.
She
performed quite a few of the old favorites, dancing to all
of them that were rhythmic to the screams of the audience.
Do I need to say, again, what it was like when she
performed Kavir? WOW! The audience stirred
with excitement when the familiar music started; listened
in awe, sang “Khodaya, Khodaya” with her, and when she
finished erupted in the loudest cheers that went on for a
while. She was grateful. She bowed, knelt and
lowered her beautiful head to the floor – like “sojdeh”!
In
one segment she wore a very elegant black lace gown, her
hair combed back, looked beautiful and subdued and sang
“Ay Mardom Mordam”, and a couple of old soft melodies
such as “Man-o gonjeshkha-ye khooneh”. She also
sang the new Armenian song she just recorded which
delighted not only our Armenian friends but everyone else.
Googoosh
was accompanied by dancers with two songs. One of
them was
Otagh-e
Man.
The dancers wore white shirt, black
pants, vest, top hat, danced holding a black cane.
Their performance had a hint of Googoosh’s Charlie
Cahplin act. Very, very nice.
At
the sound of the first note of “Sakkineh Daay Ghazi”,
the
audience started clapping and were on their feet to
witness one of the most delightful performances ever.
I wish you could be there to see it. What a dance.
ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL! She looked just like a
sweet little girl dancing on the stage. So endearing!
It
was, of course, a wonderful evening; full of
excitement. She conquered the hearts again for the
umpteenth time. It does not matter how many times
she sings the same songs, performs the same dances and
moves, they are new and a pleasure to watch each and every
time!
Although
she had laryngitis, which was obvious to everyone, but did
not let it deter her from giving us all a memorable
evening. It was as if she was saying: “I
appreciate your love and support and I want to show you my
gratitude by giving you my all”. And that she
certainly did!
WE
LOVE YOU OUR PRECIOUS QUEEN OF HEARTS. THERE IS NO
ONE AND THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER ONE LIKE YOU.
The
show ended by everyone joining her in singing “Ey
Iran
”.
