Story
The
curtain was raised at
9:15
, the band started playing Talagh, the audience stired with
excitement waiting for the band finish playing the beautiful
music because that’s when usually Googoosh arrives.
But, this time, within
a few seconds after the band started playing, you heard the
excited screams from thousands and Googoosh was on the stage!!
She pointed out that although we have some late arrivals,
she will start the show anyway and started singing Talagh.
She
looked beautiful in the form fitting gold gown and the short
hairstyle. As she
walked around on the stage, acknowledging everyone’s presence
with smile, I couldn’t help but think, “How perfect the
scene is; this theatre was meant for her.”
The splendor of the Kodak Theatre matched the splendor of
our One and only Superstar.
It was awesome.
Her
performance as always was fantastic.
Her extraordinary talent and ability to make every song
that she has performed so many times before on the stage, to
seem so fresh and new and exciting, is what makes everyone of
her concerts “one of a kind”!
Before
signing Shabe Sepid she said, “The CD for this song is not out
yet, the video has been played on TV for about a month, but
I’ll now sing it for you”. Beautifully,
of course.
She
performed some old and new favorites, such as: Porsesh, Marham,
Otaghe Man, Aftabi, etc. Upon
hearing the first drum beat of
Man Amadeh-am, the audience were on their feet dancing
and clapping; enjoying
her delightful moves to that unforgettable song.
More
than ever, the audience joined in singing along tonight.
Especially all the fans in the 3 rows of
balconies. Googoosh
was so happy to hear them

sing along with her.
At times she’d hold the microphone towards them and let
them sing for a while. Her interaction with the fans on the
balconies through the evening was delightful.
At one point she said “Man ghorboone radife avval,
radife dovom, va radife sevom” which drew the loudest cheers
of the night from them.
Her
heartfelt performance of “Aye Mardom Mordam”
was followed by her tears.
Usually as soon as the song is over, she composes herself
and continues her next song.
But this time, she didn’t seem to be able to stop
crying and the audience that had just sat down after the
standing ovation, rose to their feet again.
No one could bear seeing her cry. Everyone
applauding, shouting their affection, assuring her of their love
and support. It was
as though they were saying; “Please don’t cry.
It breaks our hearts”.
It was an amazing scene.
Then
came time for the Armenian song. When Sooren started playing
there was an absolute silence in the audience.
You could hear a pin drop.
His masterful performance drew a respectful applause.
She
changed into a green and gold gown for the second half.
And, of course, she looked gorgeous!
She
acknowledged Shahyar
and Mehrdad
for their amazing songs and melodies.
Then she said “I
want to ask my dear friend, whose voice I love, to join me on the
stage! ”
The audience started the applause and cheers which continued for
quite a while after Mehrdad appeared on the stage.
That
made Googoosh very happy and she said excitedly, “Didi Meherdad?
Didi? Nagoftam?”
Mehrdad’s wonderful performance of Akharin
Khabar
with Googoosh was followed by a loud standing ovation.
Googoosh’s
extraordinary performance of Jaddeh, her powerful voice shouting
the word, had the audience on their feet with thunderous applause
which went on for quite a while.
Googoosh bowed and knelt several times in appreciation.
She
performed a few of her old favorites for the first time in this
concert. Everyone was
delighted to see her perform those songs for the first time after
about 30 years!! It
was so exciting. And,
of course, everyone remembered the lyrics and sang along with her!
Then
this amazing evening was over.
No one ever wants it to end.
After three hours of watching the most beautiful, the most
talented, and the most amazing performer, leave the stage
It is very difficult to break away.
Everyone was on their feet for quite a while after the show
ended, applauding, shouting “Googoosh, Googoosh”, and hoping
she’d return.
All
I can say, is that I wish all of you who’re reading this report,
could be there too.
What
an awesome evening.
